Programme Structure

The B.Tech in Mechatronics Engineering is a four-year program divided into eight semesters, comprising a total of 163 credits. The curriculum includes a balanced mix of core courses, electives, laboratory work, and project-based learning, designed to progressively build students’ technical knowledge and practical skills.

Semester-wise Curriculum Overview

Semesters 1 & 2: Foundations: Focuses on providing a strong foundation in engineering through Mathematics and Basic Sciences, enabling analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Integrating the fundamental concepts of Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering for building interdisciplinary knowledge essential for modern engineering applications. Alongside, students develop programming skills for problem solving, focusing on computational techniques. The module also emphasizes engineering graphics for design visualization and enhances communication skills for effective professional interaction and teamwork.

Semesters 3 & 4: Core Engineering Fundamentals: Focus to build core engineering competence by covering principles of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics essential for energy and system analysis. Integrating digital electronics with sensors and actuators to enable understanding of signal processing and real-world system interfacing. Students gain knowledge of microprocessors and microcontrollers for embedded system design, along with control systems and manufacturing processes for automation and industrial applications.

Semesters 5 & 6: Mechatronics Core & Applications: Focuses on advanced mechatronics and automation, including robotics engineering, system design, embedded systems, and industrial automation. Students will explore PLC & SCADA systems, IoT, and machine vision for smart and connected applications, along with AI integration in robotics. Students gain practical exposure through internships, mini projects, and skill development activities, preparing them for real-world industry challenges.

Semesters 7 & 8: Advanced Learning & Specialization: Focuses on advanced concepts in robotics and smart manufacturing, along with system integration and design of complex engineering solutions. Students explore emerging technologies through professional electives and gain hands-on industry exposure via internships and training. The programme culminates with capstone project, enabling students to apply their knowledge to real-world problem-solving and innovation.

The program adopts an outcome-based education (OBE) model with flexibility under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and supports credit accumulation through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) framework.
