Introduction

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at Kaveri University is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable academic environment. Aligned with the principles of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) Guidelines, the EOC ensures that all students, irrespective of their backgrounds, have equal access to opportunities and resources.

Objectives

  • Promote Inclusivity: Ensure that students from marginalized communities, including SC/ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), minorities, women, and persons with disabilities, are provided with equal opportunities in all spheres of university life.
  • Awareness and Sensitization: Conduct programs to sensitize the university community about the challenges faced by under-represented groups and promote a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Support Services: Offer guidance and counselling to students regarding academic, financial, and social matters, facilitating their holistic development.
  • Policy Implementation: Oversee the effective implementation of policies and programs designed for the welfare of disadvantaged groups.

Key Functions

  • Monitoring Admissions and Recruitment: Ensure fair representation of marginalized groups in admissions and faculty recruitment processes.
  • Scholarship Assistance: Guide eligible students in applying for scholarships and financial aid provided by the government and other agencies.
  • Skill Development Programs: Organize workshops and training sessions to enhance the employability and skill sets of students from underprivileged backgrounds.
  • Grievance Redressal: Address complaints and grievances related to discrimination or denial of opportunities, ensuring timely and effective resolution

Initiatives and Activities

  • Awareness Campaigns: Regularly conduct seminars and discussions on topics related to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Collaboration with NGOs: Partner with non-governmental organizations to implement programs aimed at the upliftment of marginalized communities.
  • Research and Documentation: Encourage research on social justice issues and document best practices for promoting inclusivity.
