Dr. J. Karpagam, Assistant Professor in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at Kaveri University, Hyderabad, with over 9 years of academic and research experience, including teaching, research, laboratory establishment, student mentoring and research supervision. She previously worked as a Research Associate at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, where she was involved in greenhouse, glasshouse and field research and supervised postgraduate and doctoral research student from JNTU,Hyderabad
She holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, along with an M.Sc. in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, B.Sc. Agriculture, and postgraduate diplomas in Remote Sensing & GIS in Agriculture and Soils from IIRS, ISRO, and Technology Management in Agriculture from NAARM. Her academic and research interests include soil science, agricultural chemistry, geospatial and precision agriculture, sustainable agriculture, carbon management and environmental science.
Dr. Karpagam has experience in establishing soil science laboratories, developing practical agricultural activities, laboratory instrumentation, field research and mentoring students. Her research has covered soil fertility, micronutrient mapping, molybdenum fertilization, carbon sequestration and GIS-based land suitability assessment.
She has published research papers in areas including GIS-AHP based site suitability analysis, geospatial assessment of land suitability, micronutrient spatial variability, molybdenum fertilization and carbon sequestration, and has authored a book on molybdenum fertilization in lowland acid soils. She has also served as a reviewer for several scientific journals.
Her professional achievements include NET and ICAR-SRF qualification, an Academic Excellence Award from NAARM, recognition as an IIT Kharagpur Soil Science and Technology topper, and the Best Safety Warden Team Award at ICRISAT. She has also undertaken training and certifications in R, GIS, AI, carbon management, ESG, project management and Six Sigma.
