Anti-Ragging Cell

Introduction

The Anti-Ragging Cell of Kaveri University is a statutory body constituted in accordance with the regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, aimed at ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment. The university has adopted a Zero-Tolerance Policy towards any form of ragging, and is committed to preventing and addressing such misconduct through preventive, educative, and disciplinary measures.

Objective

To create and maintain a ragging-free campus where students can pursue their academic and personal development without fear, intimidation, or harassment.

Scope and Functions

  • Ensure compliance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009
  • Display Anti-ragging Guidelines, Contact information of committee members, and Helpline numbers across the campus and on the University website
  • Conduct awareness programs, workshops, and induction sessions for students and faculty
  • Receive and address complaints related to ragging through a confidential and responsive mechanism
  • Monitor student interactions, particularly during the initial semester, to detect and deter potential instances of ragging
  • Take immediate disciplinary action against individuals or groups found guilty of ragging, in accordance with university regulations and UGC guidelines

The university also encourages students to use the UGC Anti-Ragging Helpline (1800-180-5522) and antiragging.infor affidavit submission and complaints.

Penalties for Ragging

As per UGC regulations, the following actions may be taken against students found guilty of ragging:

  • Suspension from classes and academic privileges
  • Debarring from university examinations and placement services
  • Expulsion from hostel and/or university
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Filing of FIR with appropriate legal authorities
