Dr Kaushik N. Bhuyan is a distinguished academician, researcher, educator, trainer, and facilitator in the fields of English, Communication, Humanities, and Social Sciences, with over six years of post-Ph.D. experience spanning teaching, research, academic administration, student mentoring, and professional skill development across reputed higher-education institutions in India. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, School of Engineering and Technology, Kaveri University. Dr Bhuyan earned his Ph.D. in English from the Central University of Rajasthan in 2020, with his doctoral research focusing on “The Politics of Ethnography and Travel Poetics in Select Modern Indian Travelogues.” He also holds a PG Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE) from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, and a Master’s degree in English and Comparative Literature from Pondicherry Central University. His academic interests encompass English and Travel Studies, Ethnography, Communication and Soft Skills, Management, Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP).
His research interests are interdisciplinary, with a focus on literature, travel, culture, ethnography, communication, sustainability, and society. He has published research papers in reputed national and international journals, including Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals, with publications appearing in Q1 and Q2 journals, along with contributions to UGC CARE-listed journals. He has also contributed chapters to edited academic volumes and papers in internationally indexed conference proceedings, reflecting his sustained engagement with contemporary interdisciplinary scholarship. With a strong commitment to student-centred and experiential learning, Dr Bhuyan has taught a wide range of courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. levels, including Managerial and Business Communication, Communication and Soft Skills, Communicative English, Academic Writing, Media and Communication Skills, Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Gender Studies, Human Resource Management, Research Methodology, and English Language and Literature. His teaching approach integrates effective communication, employability, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary learning, with an emphasis on preparing students for contemporary academic and professional environments. A significant dimension of Dr Bhuyan’s academic profile is his engagement with entrepreneurship education, innovation, and capacity building.
He is a Certified Entrepreneurship Instructor from the Wadhwani Foundation, India, with training and capacity building credentials in entrepreneurship, and has contributed to initiatives promoting innovation, incubation, entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial thinking. His academic engagement with Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking enables him to integrate creativity, opportunity recognition, problem-solving, innovation, and entrepreneurial mindset into student learning, thereby strengthening students’ readiness for emerging professional and entrepreneurial pathways. Dr Bhuyan has also undertaken significant responsibilities in academic administration, student mentoring, curriculum-related activities, quality assurance, examination coordination, faculty development, skill development, and institutional committees. He has served in leadership and coordination roles associated with finishing-school initiatives, mentoring programmes, academic committees, student development activities, conferences, seminars, and faculty engagement programmes. His experience reflects a strong orientation towards academic leadership, institutional development, employability enhancement, and holistic student development. His research and academic engagement extend beyond classroom teaching.
He has served as the Principal Investigator of a funded research project examining the interdependence between local communities and Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh, and has guided undergraduate research dissertations. He has also delivered invited lectures and expert talks on workplace communication, sustainable development, research orientation, writing, speaking skills, and professional communication. In addition, he has participated in several faculty development programmes, workshops, and professional training initiatives conducted by leading institutions, including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bhubaneswar, and NIT Rourkela.
