Dr. B. Kavitha Rani is a Professor with specialization in Computer Science and Engineering, particularly in Machine Learning, Data Science, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, IoT, and Blockchain Technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTUK, Kakinada, awarded in January 2015. Her doctoral research focused on “A New Approach Using Machine Learning Techniques for Rainfall Prediction.” She also holds an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and an M.Sc. in Computer Science.
She has extensive academic and administrative experience in higher education. She has served as Professor & Head, Department of Information Technology, CMR Technical Campus, Hyderabad, and previously worked as an Associate Professor in the Department of CSE, Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science, Karimnagar. Her professional responsibilities have included academic leadership, IQAC, NBA and NAAC coordination, research coordination, industry–academia liaison, student placement motivation, event management, and curriculum-related activities.
Dr. Kavitha Rani has an active research and publication profile, with research contributions in areas including machine learning, deep learning, medical image analysis, rainfall prediction, cloud security, network security, IoT, and data analytics. Her publications include research papers in SCI and Scopus indexed journals and international conferences. She has also contributed book chapters and authored books in areas related to computer science, machine learning, and data mining. Her research and innovation activities include patents applied and granted in areas such as immersive augmented-reality classrooms, edge and cloud computing, IoT, network security, medical image analysis, and e-commerce systems. She has also undertaken a DST-NCSTC funded project on creating awareness of emerging technologies such as Robotics, 3D Printing and IoT among school children, with a sanctioned amount of ₹30,62,400. She has guided numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects and has three Ph.D. scholars awarded under her research guidance, while currently guiding five Ph.D. scholars. She has handled 35 B.Tech. projects and 22 M.Tech. projects. She has also served as a session chair at national and international conferences, delivered keynote and guest lectures, and actively participated in faculty development and professional activities.
