Dr. B. Sridhar Babu is currently serving as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, with extensive experience in higher education, academic administration, research, innovation, quality enhancement, and scholarly publishing. Throughout his academic career, he has contributed significantly to engineering education through teaching, research, curriculum development, accreditation, institutional development, and the promotion of research and innovation. Dr. Sridhar Babu has held several important academic leadership positions, including Dean – Research & Development (R&D), where he contributed to strengthening the institutional research ecosystem through quality publications, sponsored research, patents, consultancy, interdisciplinary research, and industry–academia collaboration. He has also served as Dean – Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, start-up activities, design thinking, intellectual property awareness, and technology development among students and faculty members.
He has extensive experience in departmental administration, having served as Head of the Department for a significant period. His responsibilities have included academic planning, faculty development, curriculum implementation, student mentoring, laboratory development, research promotion, and institutional governance. He has actively contributed to NBA, NAAC, NIRF, and institutional quality assurance initiatives, developing expertise in outcome-based education, curriculum development, accreditation, and institutional quality enhancement. His research interests span advanced materials, composite materials, nanomaterials, additive manufacturing, welding and joining technologies, tribology, machining, nanoindentation, computational mechanics, residual stress analysis, and manufacturing process optimization. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 research publications in reputed international journals and conference proceedings, including publications indexed in SCI/SCIE, Scopus, and Web of Science.
His research encompasses experimental, analytical, and numerical investigations of the mechanical, thermal, tribological, and deformation behaviour of engineering materials and manufacturing processes. Dr. Sridhar Babu has also contributed to scholarly publishing through books and book chapters with internationally recognized publishers, including De Gruyter, CRC Press/Taylor & Francis, Springer Nature, Woodhead Publishing/Elsevier, and ISTE. His scholarly contributions cover hybrid composites, nanomaterials, lightweight materials, coatings, industrial automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. He has further contributed to the academic community through editorial, academic editing, guest-editing, and peer-review services for international journals and conference proceedings. His combined expertise in teaching, academic leadership, research, innovation, and scholarly publishing reflects his sustained commitment to advancing Mechanical Engineering education and research.
