Dr. B. Sridhar Babu is a distinguished academic, researcher, and higher-education professional with 26 years of experience spanning teaching, research, academic administration, innovation, and institutional development. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from JNTUH, Hyderabad, specializing in Mechanics of Solids, with doctoral research focused on the elasto-plastic deformation behaviour of materials for aero-engine applications. His multidisciplinary academic background is further strengthened by M.Tech. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Systems.
His research expertise spans advanced materials, manufacturing systems, mechanics of solids, nanoindentation, composites, welding, tribology, additive manufacturing, and engineering optimization. He has built a substantial scholarly portfolio comprising 34 publications in SCI/Scopus/Web of Science-indexed international journals, 18 papers in peer-reviewed journals, conference publications, books, and book chapters. His research contributions cover advanced machining, nanocomposites, lightweight materials, indentation behaviour, residual stresses, welding technologies, and composite materials. He has also authored and edited books with internationally recognised publishers including Springer Nature, CRC Press, De Gruyter, and Woodhead Publishing.
Beyond research, Dr. Sridhar Babu has made significant contributions to academic leadership, research management, innovation and incubation, quality assurance, accreditation, and industry–institute collaboration. He has held key leadership responsibilities, including Dean – R&D and Dean – Innovation, Incubation and Industry, contributing to the strengthening of institutional research and innovation ecosystems. As a recognised research supervisor at JNTUH, he has guided doctoral scholars and has also contributed in editorial and academic capacities to several international journals.
A strong advocate of continuous learning and knowledge dissemination, he has organised and coordinated numerous international conferences, workshops, and faculty development programmes. As convener and programme coordinator, he has facilitated national and international academic events in areas such as manufacturing, materials science, engineering, and Artificial Intelligence for Industry, creating platforms for interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
His professional engagement extends to memberships in organisations such as the Institution of Engineers, Indian Society for Technical Education, SAE India, and the International Association of Engineers, reflecting his sustained connection with the wider engineering and research community.
