Dr. G. Ravindra Chary is a distinguished agricultural scientist and an esteemed member of the Academic Council at Kaveri University. With more than three decades of experience in agronomy, land-use planning, natural resource management, and sustainable farming systems, he brings a wealth of scientific knowledge and strategic leadership to the University’s academic governance. His extensive expertise plays a vital role in shaping academic policies and curricula that seamlessly integrate agricultural sciences with emerging technologies, preparing students to address the evolving challenges of modern agriculture.
Currently serving as Principal Scientist at the ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad, Dr. Chary has devoted his career to strengthening the resilience and sustainability of Indian agriculture, particularly in rainfed and dryland ecosystems. He has provided exemplary leadership as Project Coordinator of the All India Coordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture (AICRPDA) and has successfully discharged the responsibilities of Acting Director of ICAR-CRIDA. His contributions to climate-resilient agriculture, agricultural contingency planning, and resource-efficient production systems have significantly enhanced the adaptive capacity of farming communities across the country.
A recognized leader in strategic agricultural planning, Dr. Chary has been instrumental in developing and implementing national frameworks that address climate variability, drought management, and sustainable land-use practices. His extensive experience in coordinating multidisciplinary research programmes and translating scientific innovations into field-level solutions provides invaluable insights for strengthening the relevance and impact of higher agricultural education.
As a member of the Academic Council of Kaveri University, Dr. Chary champions the development of a future-oriented academic ecosystem that combines the strengths of traditional agricultural sciences with emerging domains such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital agriculture, precision farming, and smart resource management. His guidance ensures that academic programmes remain aligned with industry needs, technological advancements, and global sustainability goals.
