Dr. Hareesh Shiralli is an emerging entomologist with specialized expertise in biological control of crop pests, insect toxicology, and apiculture. He holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, awarded with distinction and an outstanding CGPA of 8.60. His academic journey also includes an M.Sc. in Entomology from UAS Raichur, where he secured 8.60 CGPA with distinction, reflecting a strong foundation in agricultural entomology.
His research focuses on developing scientifically sound and practically relevant approaches for sustainable pest management and beneficial insect conservation. His work encompasses biological efficacy of Bacillus thuringiensis, evaluation of insecticides against major crop pests, and assessment of their effects on natural enemies and honeybees. His research on the lethal toxicity of neonicotinoid insecticides to the Indian honeybee Apis cerana indica further highlights his interest in balancing crop protection with pollinator safety. He has contributed to research articles, book chapters, and popular scientific articles, covering diverse themes including parasitoid biology, entomophagy, honeybee conservation, lac cultivation, black soldier fly larvae, forensic entomology, and insect–plant mutualisms. His scholarly contributions demonstrate a broad perspective on the ecological, agricultural, and emerging applications of entomological science.
His professional journey spans research and teaching positions at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, and Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, before joining Kaveri University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Entomology. At Kaveri University, he is also associated with research on waste management through black soldier fly, linking entomology with circular and sustainable agricultural practices. His academic excellence has been recognized through an All India Rank of 92 in the ICAR Junior Research Fellowship examination, All India Rank of 7 in the ICAR Senior Research Fellowship examination, a Best Poster Presentation Award, and first place in Oral Presentation at the VII Post Graduate Research Conference-2024. Through his commitment to research, teaching, and sustainable insect-based solutions, Dr. Hareesh Shiralli continues to contribute to the advancement of modern entomology and environmentally responsible crop protection.
Kaveri University was established as per the Telangana Private Universities (Establishment & Regulation) Act, 2018 under section 3.
