A Passionate Agronomist Advancing Sustainable and Climate-Smart Agriculture
Dr. Karthika M is an accomplished agronomist, researcher, and academician currently serving as Assistant Professor in the School of Agriculture, Kaveri University, Hyderabad. She holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Hyderabad, with an outstanding academic record, and was conferred the Dr. Chintalapalli Ravinder Reddy Gold Medal during the university’s 55th Convocation. Her academic journey includes a bachelor’s degree from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and a master’s degree from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University. Her research interests span integrated and precision nutrient management, sustainable crop production, conservation agriculture, climate-smart farming, crop modelling, soil fertility, carbon-negative agriculture, and resource-use efficiency. Her research encompasses major crops including rice, chickpea, maize, and mustard, with particular emphasis on improving productivity while enhancing nutrient-use efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Karthika has developed a strong research and scholarly profile through 18 research publications, along with books, book chapters, popular articles, and presentations at national and international scientific forums. Her work has appeared in reputed journals including Scientific Reports, Journal of Plant Nutrition, Current Science, Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Legume Research, and Plant Stress. Her scientific contributions cover areas ranging from low-carbon and energy-efficient crop production and integrated nutrient management to biochar, precision agriculture, crop modelling, nanotechnology, and regenerative agriculture and carbon credits. Her accomplishments have been recognized through several distinctions, including the Best Faculty Award (2026), Best Oral Presentation Award (2024), Best Poster Award at the 5th International Agronomy Congress (2021), ICAR-NET qualification in Agronomy, UGC-NET qualification in Environmental Science, 13th rank in ICAR-SRF, and the ICAR National Talent Scholarship. Complementing her research expertise, she has undertaken advanced training in drone technology, artificial intelligence in agriculture, machine learning and statistical analysis, R programming, precision agriculture, and conservation agriculture, reflecting her commitment to integrating emerging technologies with sustainable agricultural research and education
