Dr. Navyashree R is a dedicated crop physiologist, researcher, and academician with expertise spanning plant physiology, abiotic stress tolerance, crop improvement, and climate-resilient agriculture. She holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture (Crop Physiology) from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, with an outstanding OGPA of 9.23 and a Gold Medal, reflecting her strong academic foundation and commitment to excellence.
A committed researcher, Dr. Navyashree has focused her research on drought tolerance in rabi sorghum and salinity tolerance in chickpea, integrating physiological, biochemical, and molecular approaches to understand stress adaptation in crops. Her work encompasses crop stress physiology, physiological trait evaluation, genetic diversity analysis using SSR markers, and molecular and tissue culture techniques. She has made significant contributions to agricultural research through a growing portfolio of research papers, review articles, book chapters, conference proceedings, and popular agricultural articles. Her publications address drought and salinity tolerance, crop physiology, genetic diversity, climate change, stress-resilient crops, and emerging agricultural technologies. She has also contributed chapters on drought stress tolerance, plant photosynthesis, antioxidants, climate change, and crop water relations, demonstrating the breadth of her scientific and academic interests.
Dr. Navyashree is also actively engaged in agricultural innovation and emerging technologies, with design registrations for an IoT-powered smart agriculture field parameter measuring device and an agriculture robot for crop health monitoring. Her patent portfolio further includes innovations involving AI-based nutrient deficiency detection, drought stress management, disease prediction, plant stress memory, root-zone profiling, and IoT-based early warning systems. Her academic and research excellence has been recognized through several honours, including the Gold Medal in Ph.D. Crop Physiology, Best M.Sc. Thesis Award, Best Research Scholar Award, Young Crop Physiologist Award, Emerging Scientist Award, and Agricultural Research Excellence Award.
As an academician, she has taught courses in Crop Physiology, Physiological Techniques in Crop Production, Plant Developmental Biology, Tissue Culture and Transformation, and Environmental Studies, while also contributing to conferences, faculty development programmes, and professional agricultural organizations. Through her integrated contributions to crop physiology, abiotic stress research, molecular approaches, and agricultural innovation, Dr. Navyashree R is emerging as a promising young scientist dedicated to advancing climate-resilient, sustainable, and technology-driven agriculture.
