Dr. Pushpalatha Ganesh is a distinguished agricultural biotechnologist and academic leader with over fifteen years of experience spanning teaching, research, academic administration, and industry engagement. As the Dean of the School of Agriculture at Kaveri University, she plays a pivotal role in integrating academic excellence with industry relevance, fostering an ecosystem that nurtures innovation, research, and skilled human capital for the future of agriculture.
A visionary institution builder, Dr. Ganesh has been instrumental in strengthening academic and research infrastructure by establishing advanced biotechnology laboratories, commercial tissue culture facilities, and organic farming ecosystems that provide experiential learning opportunities. She has also led institutional quality initiatives, successfully steering accreditation and ranking processes for NIRF, ICAR, and NAAC, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, academic excellence, and global competitiveness.
Her research focuses on cutting-edge areas of plant biotechnology and molecular genetics, with particular emphasis on genome editing, functional genomics, and climate-resilient crop improvement. As Principal Investigator of projects funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), she has contributed significantly to research on CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing and haplotype analysis for salinity tolerance in rice. Her international academic engagements include serving as a Visiting Faculty member at Kyoto University and receiving prestigious fellowships and research support from the International Rice Research Institute, reflecting the global recognition of her scientific contributions.
Dr. Ganesh’s outstanding achievements have been recognized through several prestigious honours, including the Research Wizard Award and the Scientist Associate Award. Equally passionate about mentoring the next generation of scientists, she has guided numerous postgraduate and doctoral scholars and has authored a substantial body of research papers and book chapters in reputed international publications.
