Dr. Raj Kumar Patra is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, Kaveri University. With more than 25 years of academic experience, he has made significant contributions to teaching, research, curriculum development, academic administration, student mentoring, and faculty development. His academic pursuits focus on advancing knowledge and innovation in emerging areas of Computer Science and Engineering and their applications to real-world challenges.
Dr. Patra received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. C. V. Raman University, Bilaspur, India, in 2017. He obtained his M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Computer Technology and Applications (CTA) from Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, in 2009, and completed his B.E. in Computer Science from Karnataka University, Dharwad, India, in 2000.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Patra has been actively involved in curriculum design and development, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), academic planning, research supervision, faculty development, student mentoring, project guidance, and quality enhancement initiatives. He has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has handled courses including Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, and Deep Learning.
His major research interests include Biometrics, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and other emerging areas of computing. His research focuses on developing intelligent and innovative computational solutions with applications in real-world domains.
Dr. Patra has made significant scholarly contributions through research publications in reputed peer-reviewed international journals and conferences, including venues associated with IEEE, Springer, Wiley, and Elsevier. He has a Scopus H-index of 12 and has contributed seven chapters to reputed books. He has also served as the editor of the book “Green Computing and Applications.” In addition to his research and academic contributions, he actively serves as a reviewer and editor for reputed international journals, contributing to the advancement of scholarly research and peer-review activities.
Dr. Patra is actively associated with professional academic and technical communities and is a member of reputed national and international professional societies, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Computer Society of India (CSI), and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
With a strong combination of teaching expertise, research experience, academic leadership, curriculum development, and professional engagement, Dr. Patra continues to contribute to the growth of Computer Science and Engineering education and research, while mentoring students and researchers to address emerging technological challenges and develop innovative solutions for society and industry.
