Professor of Radiology, University of Illinois Chicago | Division Head, Interventional Radiology

Dr. Ron C. Gaba is a distinguished Professor of Radiology at the University of Illinois Chicago and an active faculty member of the Graduate College. He holds key leadership roles within the University of Illinois College of Medicine, including Division Head of Interventional Radiology, Vice Head for Research, and Assistant Dean for Joint Degree Programs and Student Research.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Illinois Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University. In his clinical practice at UI Health, he specializes in Interventional Oncology and portal hypertension management, performing advanced minimally invasive procedures such as TACE, radioembolization, tumor ablation, TIPS, variceal embolization, UFE, and dialysis access interventions.

In addition to his clinical and research contributions, Dr. Gaba plays a vital role in academic leadership and medical education. As Assistant Dean, he oversees student research initiatives, supports interdisciplinary dual-degree programs, and promotes the integration of translational research into medical education, strengthening innovation and academic excellence.
