Program Description

Mushroom cultivation is emerging as a sustainable agri-business with high income potential and minimal land requirements. India is the second-largest producer of mushrooms in Asia, with growing demand for button, oyster, milky, and medicinal mushrooms. This 6-month, hands-on skilling program at Kaveri University trains students in scientific methods of Mushroom production, processing, and entrepreneurship. The course includes 70% practical, 15% theory, and 15% field exposure to other units.

Program Objectives

Participants will learn to:

Establish small- to medium-scale mushroom units

Produce spawn and cultivate mushrooms under hygienic conditions

Identify and manage diseases and pests

Add value through processing and packaging

Develop marketing skills and prepare business models

Target Audience

Ideal for:

First-year B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture students.

10+2 pass candidates, graduates and entrepreneurs from rural areas

NGO- or SHG-nominated individuals

Program Structure

Duration: 6 months

Total Sessions: 32 (23 Practical, 5 Theory, 4 Field Visits)

Mode: Offline (on-campus)

Schedule: Part-time, flexible to academic calendar

Certification
