Program Description

As demand rises for high-quality planting material and climate-resilient horticulture practices, the need for skilled nursery professionals and entrepreneurs is greater than ever. This 16-week hands-on certification course equips learners with the skills to establish, operate, and scale modern horticultural nurseries across fruit, vegetable, ornamental, medicinal, and aromatic plant segments.

Participants will gain field-based exposure to propagation techniques, nursery layout, pest/disease management, and the legal and commercial aspects of nursery enterprise development.

Provide practical training in plant propagation, nursery layout, and maintenance

Nursery irrigation methods and fertigation


Plant Propagation Techniques

Propagation methods: seed, cutting, grafting, layering, budding

Techniques for fruit crops (mango, guava, citrus), vegetables, ornamentals, and medicinal plants

Raising rootstocks and transplanting protocols

Hardening and acclimatization of seedlings

Nursery Management & Sustainability

Pest, disease, and weed management in nursery environments

Seasonal planning and relay nursery production

Landscaping basics: laying lawns, hedges, garden beds, and topiary designs

Waste management and organic practices


Regulations, Marketing & Enterprise Development

Nursery Act, licensing, registration, and quality certification

Market linkages, branding, and packaging

Value-added nursery products: potted plants, bonsai, ornamental sets

Cost economics and preparation of bankable business plans

Certification

On successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Horticulture Nursery Management from Kaveri University, with optional co-certification from partnering nursery enterprises or horticulture boards based on project performance.
